When moving activity away from LinkedIn, some elements travel easily and others do not.
Resume text, education history, and work samples can be copied into a new profile or portfolio on Indeed, Wellfound, GitHub, or a personal site. Contact information you already hold offline can be reused. The connection graph itself, the history of messages, and the algorithmic visibility built on LinkedIn do not move to another platform. Recommendations and endorsements also stay behind unless the people who wrote them recreate them elsewhere.
In 2026 the practical approach is to export or copy the portable pieces before reducing activity on LinkedIn, then rebuild the network-specific pieces on the new platform over time. The amount that transfers depends on how much of your professional identity lives in documents and files versus inside the LinkedIn graph.
